24 Hours of Boulder

My first 24 hours event this year well actually the 12 hour event.  This run was my first official endurance run for 2010.  I did do 50 miles with a friend last year on the highline canal trail that runs through Denver.

This event was very well organized and the volunteers were great!  I was able to cover the first 50 miles just under 9.5 hours, which was a big improvement of doing 50 hours in under 12 hours.  This event was about completing full laps, I wasn't sure if I could get in more than the 57.12 miles within the 12 hours so decided to take my time on the last lap and finished just at 11 hours.

The highlights were looking forward to the RC Cola at the aid stations and the hot pasta and latte at the end.  Amazingly I placed 3rd for the 12 hour event and along with the 3rd place medal I got a used container of Heed and water bottle!

Believe it or not I felt pretty good after running 57 miles and was back on the road running after taking a few days off.  By the following week I was back at running my normal pace and miles.  With the running high from this event I feel I want to take my running to the next level and sign up for 100 mile run.  Ultimately I would love to do the Leadville 100, but I can't see that happening for 2011, so maybe 2012.  Until then I'm thinking of doing the 100 mile run in Laramie, Wy with Gemini Adventures.  They put on a great race and the volunteers were fantastic!  Need to find some pacers to help out for this one!  Anyone?
